PSP Design Challenge 2007
Point of Sale Finalist
From an open brief John Darling Design developed The Briefcase. PSP PlexiglasGS clear acrylic was the chosen material for the design because it was ideal for product exposure and a very good fit with a NZ pure brand.
The design solution is practical, cool and professional. Its point of uniqueness being it was entirely transparent and promoted the product the moment the salesperson stepped out of the car: product promotion as they walked along the road, brand impact as they placed the Briefcase on the bar. This was entirely fitting with the 42Below brand, creating intrigue at the bar for the bar manager, and the opportunity for a sales pitch. International salespeople have also provided excellent feedback on the success of the product both in bars and as an attention grabber at airports.
With the exception of the handles and latches the product is entirely made from PSP PlexiglasGS Clear Acrylic and Acryfix glue. The design has no graphics and components are kept to a minimum, with the case moulded to best reflect the form of the bottles. The Briefcase carries four 750ml bottles and can be adapted to cradle four smaller 500ml bottles by changing the insert.
